The USA College of Education hosted this year’s mass training for Grade 8 teachers of the Basic Education Program on April 29-May 3, 2013 in preparation for the implementation of the Grade 8 curriculum in 2014.
The mass training was successfully conducted and achieved its respective objectives, most especially for the 1,200 delegates from different secondary schools all over Panay Region. Through this training, the intended Grade 8 teachers for MAPEH and Values Education subjects were given sufficient in-service training to implement this program. Also, this event was made possible through the active participation and effort of the College of Education faculty and staff who are in-charge for various working committees headed by Rev. Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, OSA Over-all Chairman and Dr. Alex B. Facinabao as the Vice Chairman.
According to Prof. Frank Emboltura, member of the working committees, Grade 8 mass training basically trained and oriented trainees ragardding the main features of MAPEH and Values Education subjects. Supported and managed by the USA College of Education working committees through their thorough planning of training design, and guidelines pertinent to design, methodology, handout preparation and distribution, monitoring and evaluation mechanism for the TOT and mass training, this includes constant meetings of working committee members (USA College of Education faculty members) and trainers (USA College of Education faculty members and DedEd teachers).
The Grade 8 mass training was a great opportunity and good training ground for such teachers as it could effectively train and prepare them in the actual field.
