IN celebration of its pearl jubilee, the USA High School ‘84 held a class reunion last 19-20 July 2014. It was attended by class members who, now, are businessmen, doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers or seafarers, with some coming home all the way from as far as Australia and Canada. HS ’84 celebrates pearl anniversary On Day 1, the activity kicked off with a caravan around the major streets of Iloilo City at 3:00 P.M.
The group then proceeded to the High School Campus in Sambag, Jaro where they had a picture taking. After which, they had a Fellowship Dinner at Esca’s Garden Restaurant, Aurora Subdivision where they were joined by Dr. Asuncion L. Faro, USA Alumni Association President, and Rev. Fr. Williener Jack E. Luna, O.S.A., Director for External and Alumni Relations.
Day 2 was Family Day. There was a Eucharistic Celebration at the University Main Campus Chapel at 7:30 A.M., with Rev. Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, O.S.A., University President, as main celebrant. After the mass, the group had a campus tour, which ended with another round of picture taking in front of the new Statue of Saint Augustine. The attendees then had a quick breakfast at Roadhouse and proceeded to Alicia’s Grill in Tabuk Suba, Jaro for lunch, both treats courtesy of Capt. Von Conrad Nobleza. At lunch, the group was joined by their former Filipino teacher, Ms. HS’ 84 celebrates.... from page 4 Teresita Hontiveros and her husband, as well as by Fr. Luna and Fr. Comendador.
The group also had a meeting to discuss their plans for their batch mates who are in need, and the University’s “Building the University Brick by Brick” project for the USA Scholarship Trust Fund. The election of officers followed, with the designation of Jose Evelino Gimenez as President. (M.H. Bretaña)
