USA breaks ground for Injap Building-Donation

New ground was broken at the University of San Agustin for the construction of the Dr. Edgar “Injap” Sia II Center for Continuing Education.

USA friar-administrators, together with Injap’s siblings, Mr. Ferdinand J. Sia (President, Injap Investments Inc. III) and Ms. Riza Marie J. Sia (Chief Financial Officer, Injap Investments Inc.), and other esteemed guests came together during the ceremonial breaking of the ground.

The Blessing and Groundbreaking Ceremonies for the three-storey structure was held on June 30, 2014 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the new building’s construction site – beside Urdaneta Hall, facing Jalandoni St., Iloilo City. Mrs. Ma Cecilia G. Montero, Deputy Director for Philanthropy, welcomed the guests with a short message.
University President Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, Director for External and Alumni Affairs Williener Jack E. Luna, and Vicar Provincial Fr. Jonas M. Mejares, expressed in their messages the University’s appreciation and gratitude for Mr. Sia’s donation to his alma mater.

Mr. Joel Adrias, President of Injap Foundation Inc., spoke in behalf of Injap, citing that he believes “education is the solution to poverty,” thus his building-donation.

In their Memorandum of Agreement, Injap Investments Inc. cites that it “has recognized the importance and the need of education for the growth and advantage of the community and the desire to contribute a share for the cause of the education of Filipino learners through the University,” and that the building will be “used solely and exclusively for educational purposes.”
University Chaplain Fr. Jessie T. Tabobo was the celebrant for the Order of Blessing for the new construction site. Director for Student Affairs and Welfare Mr. Eric C. Divinagrcia was the master of ceremonies.

After the ceremonies, guests were invited for cocktails at the USA Administration Lobby.
