The year 2015 marks the celebration of three events of utmost importance not only to the Augustinian Order (OSA), but to the entire Filipino nation as well – namely, the 450th anniversary of the finding (“kaplag” in Cebuano) of the miraculous image of the Sto. Niño de Cebu (1565-2015), the 450th anniversary of the Augustinian presence in the Philippines (1565-2015), and the 50th anniversary of the elevation of the Sto. Niño Church in Cebu City to the rank of a “minor basilica” (1965-2015).
In line with the above-mentioned events, a commemorative book (entitled “Kaplag 2015”) was published by the Augustinian Province of Sto. Niño de Cebu – Philippines, edited by Fr. Czar Emmanuel Alvarez, OSA. It will be formally launched on April 20, 2015 at the North Wing of SM City Cebu, to be attended by various local government officials, representatives from the Augustinian Order, and press people (among others).Read more: KAPLAG 2015 Commemorative Book All Set for Launching
