USA to celebrate 60th Anniversary as a University

A big time festivity is set on March 1, 2013 because the first university in Western Visayas, the University
of San Agustin, will be marking its 60th anniversary of its elevation to a university.

According to Rev. Fr. Harold Rentoria, OSA, chair of the ad hoc committee for San Agustin’s 60th
anniversary as a university and at the same time Vice President for Academic Affairs, the entire event will
revolve around the theme ‘USA@60: A Commemoration of the Past, A Celebration of the Present, and A
Commitment to the Future’. The celebration tagline, echoed from the University Hymn, is ‘Shout your
glory across the sky.’

USA contracts with ISA for Strategic Planning Intervention

The University of San Agustin (USA) has engaged the consulting services of the Institute for Solidarity in Asia (ISA) for administering its annual Strategic Planning process. The signing of Agreement will be on July 4, 2013, 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon, at the USA President’s Conference Room.

San Agustin hosts the visiting relics of John 23 and JP2

Thousands of devotees are expected to welcome the visiting relics of the newly canonized Popes, St. John Paul II and St. John XXIII, today, at the University of San Agustin, Iloilo City. The 109 year old Catholic-Augustinian University is hosting the 3-day relic visit of the two new Saints of the Catholic Church from May 20-22.

At 11 a.m. today, Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo will celebrate a welcome mass at the University Chapel, where the relics will be enshrined for the entire duration of the visit.

CHED Commissioner to keynote nat’l confab at USA-Iloilo

CHED Commissioner Dr. Minella Alarcon, is expected to keynote in the 1st San Agustin National Research and Education Conference on November 27-29, 2013 at the University of San Agustin - Iloilo Auditorium.

With the theme “Philippine Higher Education and Research in the Knowledge Society,” the three-day Conference will consist of six plenary talks to be given by noted speakers covering topics in Social Science & Humanities, Natural Science, Technology & Innovation, and Education.

Iloilo’s University of San Agustin marks heritage milestone

Panay pride and Augustinian audacity were in full display when the University of San Agustin  (USA) in Iloilo City celebrated  the 60th anniversary of its elevation as a university last March 1 with a solemn High Mass of thanksgiving, a concert that featured a magnificent Olympic-style gallery of lights performed by some 2,000 students, and an impressive fireworks display.
