USA breaks ground for Injap Building-Donation

New ground was broken at the University of San Agustin for the construction of the Dr. Edgar “Injap” Sia II Center for Continuing Education.

USA friar-administrators, together with Injap’s siblings, Mr. Ferdinand J. Sia (President, Injap Investments Inc. III) and Ms. Riza Marie J. Sia (Chief Financial Officer, Injap Investments Inc.), and other esteemed guests came together during the ceremonial breaking of the ground.

The Blessing and Groundbreaking Ceremonies for the three-storey structure was held on June 30, 2014 at 4 o’clock in the afternoon at the new building’s construction site – beside Urdaneta Hall, facing Jalandoni St., Iloilo City. Mrs. Ma Cecilia G. Montero, Deputy Director for Philanthropy, welcomed the guests with a short message.
University President Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, Director for External and Alumni Affairs Williener Jack E. Luna, and Vicar Provincial Fr. Jonas M. Mejares, expressed in their messages the University’s appreciation and gratitude for Mr. Sia’s donation to his alma mater.

USA Benefactor’s Night

In honor of the donors who contributed for the commission of the new St. Augustine Statue, Benefactor’s Night was organized by the Philanthropic, External and Alumni Relations Office after the unveiling of the said statue.

The University President, Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, OSA, together with PEAR Director, Fr. Williener Jack E. Luna, OSA presented the Certificates of Appreciation and a small token to all the donors who were present at the unveiling.

New St. Augustine Statue Commissioned by Donors unveiled

Standing prominently in front of the USA Main Building is the new 13-foot bronze St. Augustine the Scholar statue that was unveiled to the public last December 13, 2013.

The new statue was conceptualized to be in line with the University’s celebration of its 60th year as the first University in Western Visayas. It was commissioned through the generosity of 60 donors who donated P 60,00.00 each.
