The University of San Agustin College of Law, founded on 1939, commemorates its 75th Year Anniversary this 2014. In celebration thereof, the College and its Alumni Association have organized various activities for its alumni and students every Saturday for the entire month of August.
To launch the month-long celebration, an exhibit was put up by the College at SM City Iloilo last July 27, – August 1, 2014, showcasing the College’s history and distinguished alumni. The exhibit has now been transferred to the Iloilo Hall of Justice.
On the first Saturday (August 2), over four hundred students, alumni, and participants joined the Diamond Run, including Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog. After the Fun Run, a mass was held at the USA Extension Campus in Sambag, Jaro, followed by “Laro ng Lahi” traditional Filipino games and Alumni vs. Students sporting events in the afternoon.
The college is inviting all alumni and students to the second Saturday (August 9), to join the Billiards and Bowling Fellowship Night at St. Elizabeth Billiards and Bowling Alleys (SEBBA) that will start at 5:30 in the afternoon.
Alumni Atty. Hector Teodosio will give a lecture on “Modes of Discovery” at the Wenceslao de la paz (WDLP) Hall on the third Saturday (August 16) at 2 PM, while alumni Atty. Raphael Lotilla will talk about “Legal & Policy Aspects of the Electric Power Industry Reform Act” on the fourth Saturday (August 23) at the USA Nursing Review Center at 2 PM.
The Grand Alumni Homecoming on August 30 will begin with a Motorcade at Rada Hall to start at 7 AM, followed by a mass at the USA Chapel at 9:30 AM, a Batch Tour at 10:30 AM, and Lunch to be served at the WDLP Hall at 12 noon.
In the afternoon, students and alumni will gather for the General Assembly at the WDLP Hall at 1 PM.
Senior Justice Antonio T. Carpio of the Philippine Supreme Court is expected to grace the highlight of the College of Law’s Diamond Anniversary as the Guest of Honor and Guest Speaker for the Culmination Night, “An Evening Legal Affair,” at Sheridan Boutique Resort in Oton, Iloilo at 7 o’clock in the evening.
