University of San Agustin Forges Strategic Alliance with Taiwan’s Providence University

ILOILO CITY, Philippines – In a significant move to advance its internationalization efforts, the University of San Agustin (USA) has established a strategic partnership with Providence University in Taiwan. The landmark agreement was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed on the sidelines of the 31st Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASEACCU) conference, held from August 19-21, 2025, at Providence University’s campus.

This partnership is designed to foster mutually beneficial collaborations across a wide range of academic endeavors. Key initiatives will include academic exchange programs for students, faculty, and administrative staff; joint research activities and collaborative grant proposals; and the sharing of knowledge, publications, and academic materials. The institutions have also committed to co-developing programs in areas of shared interest.

Representing the University of San Agustin at the historic signing were Fr. Aimark P. Asor, OSA, Vice-President for Administration and Finance, and Fr. John Louis S. Ricamora, OSA, Dean of the College of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics. Fr. Ricamora expressed particular enthusiasm for the partnership’s potential, noting promising opportunities for collaborative research and academic program development, especially within the Food and Nutrition disciplines.

Held under the umbrella of ASEACCU—a vital network promoting academic excellence and cross-cultural understanding among Catholic higher education institutions in the region—this partnership underscores USA’s continued commitment to global engagement and solidifies its position as a leading Catholic university in the Philippines.
