USA participates in the CALESA DIGITAL Project Convention

The University of San Agustin, thru its College of Law, is one of the Philippine and Spanish legal partner institutions of the CALESA DIGITAL Project (https://digital.calesaproject-cbhe.eu/). The Project, with the full support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and Foundation for the Internationalisation of Public Administrations (FIAP), will gather for a Convention for the Creation of a Digital Legal Framework for the Social Progress of the Philippines at the Facultad de Derecho of the Universidad de Granada, Spain, on 15 – 17 October 2025. The Project fosters academic collaboration, innovation, and cultural exchange among partner institutions; Faculty of the College of Law will attend the Convention, present papers on Artificial Intelligence in legal services and dispute resolution mechanisms, share their insights, strengthen ties, and explore areas of collaboration.

The DIGITAL CALESA Project, with the strong support of AECID and FIAP, aims to strengthen legal cooperation between Spain and the Philippines as a tool to meet the challenges posed by technological development, while continuing to strengthen judicial institutions and support the rule of law. The Project continues the CALESA Project (https://calesaproject-cbhe.eu/) co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, builds on the established ties between Spanish and Philippine academic law institutions, and expands collaboration between justice sector experts from both countries, for the purpose of improving the functioning of the judiciary and citizens’ access to justice through the formulation of legislative reform proposals around three main thematic areas:

I- The digitalization of the administration of Justice.

II- The use of Artificial Intelligence in the administration of Justice.

III- Private Law: digital content and digital data

This participation underscores the University of San Agustin’s commitment to global legal education and its active role in shaping the future of justice in the digital age.
