The University of San Agustin (USA) has further strengthened its commitment to providing students with practical industry exposure by forging a strategic partnership with Direc Business Technologies. This collaboration between the university’s Information Technology and Computer Science programs and the leading tech company aims to offer students valuable on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, ensuring they are well-prepared for the competitive job market.
On October 17, 2025, a ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement took place between USA and Direc Business Technologies at Victoria One Building, Quezon City, formalizing their partnership. The signing was attended by Mr. Robert A. Aguilar Jr., MIT, Academic Supervisor of the IT Program, and Dr. Ephraim U. Basal, DIT, Academic Supervisor of the Computer Science Program, alongside Ms. Aireen Klarissa Kornel, HR Resource Manager, and Ms. Eilamarie L. Ardivilla, HR Staff from Direc Business Technologies. The partnership will focus on providing students with OJT placements that allow them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world tech environments.
The collaboration underscores the importance of integrating real-world experience into the academic curriculum. Mr. Aguilar highlighted the university’s goal of producing graduates who are not only academically proficient but also industry-ready, stating, “By partnering with Direc Business Technologies, we offer our students the chance to gain practical experience that will make them competitive in the global job market.”
Dr. Basal echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for hands-on learning in today’s rapidly evolving tech landscape. “The OJT program bridges the gap between classroom learning and industry practice, preparing students for the demands of the professional world,” he said.
For Direc Business Technologies, this partnership provides an opportunity to nurture and develop future IT and Computer Science talent.
This collaboration offers IT and Computer Science students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a tech-driven environment, enhancing their skills and employability. OJT placements will give them a competitive edge as they enter the workforce, allowing them to build industry connections and apply what they have learned in the classroom.
This partnership marks only the beginning. By strengthening the link between academia and industry, USA and Direc Business Technologies ensure that students are better prepared for the challenges of the modern workforce. Through hands-on training, professional mentorship, and exposure to industry practices, USA’s IT and Computer Science students will graduate with the skills needed to succeed in the fast-paced tech world. This collaboration is a significant step in the university’s ongoing mission to provide its students with the best possible career opportunities and industry connections.
