The University of San Agustin (USA) proudly participated in the Philippines–Spain Networking Seminar hosted by the Embassy of Spain in the Philippines in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education – International Affairs Service (CHED-IAS), held on 25 November 2025 at the University of Santo Tomas (UST).
Representing USA, International Relations Office Director John Paul Mondejar joined Philippine and Spanish higher education leaders in advancing academic cooperation, emphasizing the University’s deep historical and cultural ties to Spain.
Founded by Spanish Augustinian missionaries in 1904, the University of San Agustin carries a rich Spanish and Augustinian heritage that continues to shape its identity, values, and academic mission. This legacy reinforces USA’s engagement in dialogues with Spanish institutions and supports its commitment to intercultural collaboration.
The seminar focused on expanding partnerships in student and faculty mobility, joint research, cultural exchange, and academic program development. Officials from the Embassy of Spain reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening educational linkages with the Philippines, while CHED-IAS emphasized the importance of global partnerships in enhancing the quality of Philippine higher education.
USA connected with Spanish universities to explore opportunities aligned with its Augustinian-Spanish roots, including academic exchanges, visiting scholar initiatives, and collaborative research projects.
The Philippines–Spain Networking Seminar stands as a vital platform for enriching historical ties and developing forward-looking academic partnerships, supporting the University of San Agustin’s mission to expand global linkages while honoring its enduring heritage.
