USA, ILOILO CITY DRRM OFFICE DISCUSS C-DRAMA PROJECT, FINALIZE ‘ABC DRRM ALPHABET’ AHEAD OF PILOT

ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO) partnered with the University of San Agustin (USA), through its Social Advocacy and Community Engagement Office (SACEO), for a consultative discussion on the C-DRAMA Project: Climate and Disaster Resilience Advocacy, in preparation for the pilot run of their new learning material.

A key output of their collaboration is the ABC DRRM Alphabet — a specially developed resource where each letter of the alphabet stands for a term related to disaster safety and preparedness. The USA SACEO team worked closely with ICDRRMO in conceptualizing this tool. To ensure its quality and suitability for young learners, Education faculty and USA Faculty  and Non Academic Personnel (NAP) with journalism background reviewed and refined every detail — from concept selection and content to illustrations, layout, and overall design of the booklet.

Leading the USA team are Dr. Delsa P. Gange, Academic Supervisor of Education, along with faculty members Frank Emboltura and Daisy Fillo. Representing ICDRRMO are Partnership Officer Che Gavan and C-DRAMA Focal Person Arbs Gallofin. They met with Early Childhood Care and Development teachers from various districts across Iloilo City.

During the session, Gange, Emboltura, and Fillo shared practical strategies on how to introduce and teach these disaster resilience concepts effectively to young children.

The initiative aims to build strong safety foundations starting in early childhood. By equipping teachers with hazard knowledge, risk mitigation skills, and age-appropriate emergency response approaches, the effort ensures children — one of the most vulnerable groups — learn safety practices they can share with their families and communities, fostering a broader culture of preparedness.
