The University of San Agustin (USA), through its International Relations Office (IRO), actively participated in the 2026 International Relations Officers (IRO) Visayas Congress held on 30 June to 01 July 2026 at Siquijor State College in Larena, Siquijor.
Representing the University were IRO Director John Paul P. Mondejar and IRO Assistant for Linkages and Partnerships Don Clyde G. Febrio, who joined International Relations Officers, higher education leaders, and internationalization practitioners from colleges and universities across the Visayas.
The congress was organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) International Affairs Service (IAS), CHED Regional Office VI, and CHED Regional Office Negros Island Region (NIR), in collaboration with Siquijor State College. The congress brought together International Relations Officers, higher education leaders, and internationalization practitioners from across the Visayas to exchange best practices, strengthen institutional networks, and discuss emerging trends and strategic directions in global engagement.
The two-day program featured plenary sessions and discussions on key developments in higher education internationalization, including strategic international partnerships, student and faculty mobility, global engagement initiatives, international rankings, and the role of International Relations Offices in advancing institutional competitiveness and global visibility. The congress also provided valuable opportunities for networking and collaboration among higher education institutions, fostering meaningful exchanges that support the continued growth of internationalization initiatives in the region.
Beyond the learning sessions, the congress enabled participants to strengthen existing networks and establish new institutional linkages that will contribute to future collaborations among higher education institutions in the Visayas and beyond. The exchanges reinforced the importance of cooperation and shared commitment in promoting quality internationalization across Philippine higher education.
Through its participation in the 2026 IRO Visayas Congress, the University of San Agustin reaffirmed its commitment to expanding international collaborations, promoting academic excellence, and creating meaningful global opportunities for its students, faculty, researchers, and staff. The engagement reflects the University’s continuing pursuit of internationalization as a strategic pillar in fulfilling its mission of providing transformative Augustinian education with global relevance.
