The Human Resource Management Office facilitated a Seminar on Handling Difficult Conversations and Conflict Management, with Atty. Jose Donel Trasporto, serving as the resource speaker, last May 8, 2026 at the 6th Floor of Hotel Sta. Monica. The activity was attended by approximately 100 participants, including teaching staff, academic non-teaching staff, and non-academic personnel.
The seminar aimed to enhance participants’ communication skills for managing challenging workplace interactions, promote emotional intelligence, and strengthen conflict-resolution strategies. It also sought to foster a culture of professionalism, mutual respect, and collaboration within the University by equipping personnel with practical tools and techniques for addressing and resolving conflicts effectively.
During the seminar, Atty. Trasporto emphasized that personnel should not be afraid to engage in difficult conversations. Instead, he encouraged participants to approach such discussions constructively, viewing them as opportunities to promote understanding, build trust, and maintain harmony in the workplace. He underscored that open, respectful, and honest communication is essential in cultivating healthy professional relationships and creating a positive work environment.
To reinforce the concepts discussed, the seminar also featured a series of role-playing activities that allowed participants to apply effective communication and conflict management strategies in simulated workplace scenarios. These interactive exercises provided valuable opportunities for participants to practice handling challenging conversations, receive constructive feedback, and gain greater confidence in resolving workplace conflicts with professionalism and empathy.
