Saint Augustine: Herald of the City of God
The Augustinian community of the University of San Agustin gathered in faith and devotion to honor its patron, Saint Augustine, through nine days of Novena Masses held from August 19 to 27, 2026, culminating in the celebration of his feast day on August 28, 2026.
The Feast Day celebration began with a flower offering before the image of Saint Augustine at the University’s Main Chapel. This was followed by a solemn foot procession through the campus grounds, bringing the faithful together in prayer and devotion as they made their way to the University Gymnasium.
The Feast Day Mass was presided over by His Excellency, Most Rev. Cyril B. Villareal, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Kalibo, marking the culmination of the nine-day spiritual preparation in honor of Saint Augustine.

The nine-day novena and Feast Day celebration provided the Augustinian community with an opportunity to deepen its devotion to Saint Augustine and reflect on his enduring legacy of faith, wisdom, and the pursuit of truth. Through prayer, Eucharistic celebration, and communal devotion, the University continues to keep alive the Augustinian spirit and its call to journey together as one community.
The celebration also offered a meaningful space for spiritual reflection, communal participation, and well-being, strengthening the bonds that unite the University community through shared faith and tradition.
The celebration served as a meaningful reminder of Saint Augustine’s enduring place at the heart of the University’s identity and mission, inspiring the community to live out its Augustinian heritage in faith, service, and communion.
