USA Basic Education Learners Secure Third Place in Division Science Mega Quiz Bee

The University of San Agustin (USA) Basic Education Department secured Third Place in the Science Mega Quiz Bee during the 2026 Division Science and Technology Fair (DSTF), held on October 17–18, 2026, at Jaro National High School, under the theme “Leveraging Scientific Innovation for a Sustainable Progressive Philippines.”

The event brought together elementary and secondary learners, science teachers, coaches, and faculty members from participating schools to promote scientific literacy, creativity, innovation, and critical-thinking skills. One of its highlights, the Science Mega Quiz Bee, challenged learners to demonstrate their scientific knowledge, analytical abilities, and understanding of scientific concepts.

Representing USA were four elementary learners from Grades 3 to 6: Gil Miguel Falloria, Charlotte Mhaegan Fario, Mdrei Francisco, and Ava Francesca Dumalaog. Their participation was guided by coaches and accompanying faculty members Ms. Lizette J. Amodia and Mr. Rodel E. De los Santos, along with coaches Eric John Deduayan, Rezel Jean Caldito, Meryll Golingan, Desiree Cortez, and Joann Marie Salonzo.

The team’s Third Place finish highlighted the learners’ competence, teamwork, and dedication to scientific learning. The competition also provided an opportunity for participants to showcase their abilities, exchange knowledge, and deepen their appreciation of science and technology in addressing real-world challenges and promoting a sustainable future.

This achievement reflects the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity and critical thinking among young learners as they develop the knowledge and skills to contribute to a more innovative and sustainable future.
