The Ardiente-Mijares Laboratory, an extension of the Center for Advanced New Materials, Energy, and Environmental Technologies (CANMEET), was formally inaugurated and blessed on March 4, 2026, at Blanco Hall. The ceremony opened with solemn blessing rites officiated by Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, OSA, University President, who consecrated the new laboratory space in keeping with the Augustinian tradition that defines the University’s mission. The occasion brought together the guests of honor — Engr. Nestor P. Ardiente and Engr. Editha Mijares-Ardiente and their family — alongside the Augustinian Friars, members of the Management Council, representatives from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the College of Technology, CANMEET, and other relevant units.
The highlight of the inauguration was the ceremonial unveiling of the Ardiente-Mijares Plaque by the laboratory’s benefactors. In their speech, the Ardientes expressed deep honor at the recognition, hailing the laboratory as an enduring symbol of academic excellence and the power of research to serve the greater good. Guests were then invited on a tour of the facility — a well-equipped research space where scientists and engineers will pursue meaningful work in advanced materials, sustainable energy, and environmental technologies.
