On March 3, 2024, Jann Pearl Cordero, a Bachelor of Arts in Communication student at the University of San Agustin – College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Education, was crowned as the Miss Philippine Youth 2024 – Iloilo Province Princess during the Mr. and Ms. Philippine Youth 2024 event held at the Palacio de Manila in Malate, Manila.
Out of more than 500 applicants from all around the Philippines, only 60 candidates qualified to compete. Ms. Cordero represented Iloilo Province with Reymar Jerson Espinosa, while Keziah Bartolome and Fher Dulalia represented Iloilo City. Ms. Bartolome is also an Augustinian graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology.
Ms. Cordero is the only representative from Iloilo who secured a spot in the finals and clinched the “Princess” title out of the 12 finalists.
When asked what motivated her to pursue pageantry, she replied that it is her eagerness to push pageant standards and boundaries, regardless of her height. As an artist herself, she also wants to advocate for the importance of culture and arts by helping and teaching children to appreciate it and use it as a platform to vent out and express their feelings.
She is currently at the helm of her own business, Au’delà Digital, a marketing and advertising agency, and is involved in their family-owned dance school, PCD School of Performing Arts.
As a student, she and her classmates are working on the project “ILOstrate: From The Sidelines To The Spotlight,” an advocacy project aiming to facilitate change in the art community of Iloilo City by bringing street artists together. They envision a city where no artists are left behind.
