Augustinian Nurse-Alumna Leads Life-Saving Training and Gives Back to Alma Mater

On July 18, 2025, the University of San Agustin Nurses Alumni Association (USANAA), in collaboration with the College of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics – Nursing Program, successfully conducted an American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) training for nursing faculty members. Held at the Nursing Arts Laboratory Amphitheater, the session reaffirmed the College’s commitment to equipping educators with life-saving knowledge grounded in global standards.

The training was facilitated by Mrs. Judith Blake, USRN, a certified AHA instructor and proud alumna of the USA Nursing Class of 1980 (4-Year Curriculum), now based in Texas, USA. With a wealth of experience in clinical care and health education, Mrs. Blake guided participants through a comprehensive session on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency cardiovascular care.

In a powerful testament to their commitment to service and lifelong learning, Marvin and Judith Blake extended their support beyond training facilitation. The couple generously donated advanced simulation equipment to the University—including a Prestan Automated External Defibrillator, a Brayden CPR Electronic Mannequin, and a Tracheal Mannequin Simulator—essential tools that will significantly enhance the College’s capacity for skills-based instruction.

Moreover, in a meaningful gesture to further empower the faculty, the Blakes committed to sponsoring the AHA certification of all faculty members who completed the training. This contribution ensures that Augustinian educators not only gain vital competencies but are also formally recognized as BLS-certified professionals in accordance with international standards.

These acts of generosity are a testament to the enduring spirit of Amare servire est—to love is to serve. Through their time, resources, and unwavering support, Marvin and Judith Blake continue to invest in the excellence and future-readiness of Augustinian nursing education.

The University of San Agustin extends its deepest gratitude to the Blakes for their love, generosity, and steadfast belief in the mission of the University. Their legacy of service echoes far beyond the walls of the Nursing Arts Laboratory, inspiring the next generation of nurses to serve with competence, compassion, and faith.
