The University of San Agustin continues to strengthen its presence in the international academic arena as one of its pharmacy students helped the Philippines secure a podium finish at the International PharmaQuest 2026, held on 08 July 2026 during CPHI South East Asia 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand.
Representing the Philippines as a member of Philippines Team B (Mabuhay), Mr. Jason Rey Peñaflorida, a fourth-year Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy student at the University of San Agustin, joined Maria Ashley Magboo of Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas and John Michael Alcala of Silliman University in the international competition.
International PharmaQuest 2026 brought together ten teams from across Asia to compete in a series of challenges that tested participants’ pharmaceutical knowledge, clinical reasoning, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork. Following the preliminary rounds, Team Mabuhay emerged as the only Philippine team to advance to the Top 4, earning a place in the championship round.
In the finals, Team Mabuhay delivered another outstanding performance to finish as First Runner-Up (2nd Place), while the host country, Thailand, claimed the championship title. Another Philippine delegation, Team Maharlika—composed of students from the University of Santo Tomas, Saint Louis University, and the University of the Philippines Manila—also represented the country in the competition.
Mr. Peñaflorida’s achievement reflects the quality of pharmacy education at the University of San Agustin and the institution’s commitment to developing globally competent healthcare professionals capable of excelling in international academic competitions. His success also highlights the growing contribution of Filipino pharmacy students to advancing excellence in the pharmaceutical sciences on the global stage.
Through the accomplishments of its students, the University of San Agustin continues to affirm its commitment to academic excellence, internationalization, and the formation of professionals who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to the healthcare sector both in the Philippines and abroad.
