ILOILO CITY – Augustinian alumni reaffirmed their leadership in the accounting profession after securing key positions in the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) at the local, regional, and national levels for Fiscal Year 2026–2027.
The newly elected officers took their oath during the PICPA Annual Planning Conference held on June 25–27, 2026, at Diversion 21 Hotel in Mandurriao, Iloilo City. The conference opened with a Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. John Louis Ricamora, OSA, with the USA Cora Liturgo.
Heading the national organization is Mr. Dionisio Villeta (College of Business, Batch 1997), who was installed as PICPA National President. Mr. Villeta is a seasoned retired professor who taught accounting subjects at the College of Business and is currently a practicing public accountant.
He is joined by fellow Augustinians in the national leadership team: Marve Velasco, Co-Chair of the Public Biddings Committee; Atty. Pauline Grace Alfuente, Committee Chair on Legislation, Accountancy Law, Articles Review, and By-Laws; and Dr. Rex Carton, Regional Sectoral Representative for Education. Dr. Carton also hosted the APC Fellowship Night.
At the local level, Augustinian CPAs also occupy strategic positions in PICPA Iloilo. Elected officers include Atty. Sharon Millan, President; Noelen Carreon, Secretary; Carol Pelaez, Treasurer; Paul Pedregoza; Stephen Paul Escano, Auditor; Maybelle Payopilin, Director for Education; and Atty. Rochelle Grace Sobrevega, Director for Public Practice.
The newly elected leaders are part of the committees for the 2026 PICPA Annual National Convention, scheduled on November 18–21, 2026, at the Iloilo Convention Center. The four-day convention is expected to bring together approximately 3,500 Certified Public Accountants from across the country for continuing professional education, knowledge exchange, and collaboration on current developments in the accountancy profession.
The strong Augustinian presence in both the national and local leadership of PICPA reflects the University’s enduring tradition of producing competent, ethical, and service-oriented accounting professionals. Their appointments further strengthen the University’s contribution to the advancement of the accountancy profession and underscore the vital role of Augustinian CPAs in shaping the future of PICPA and the profession nationwide.
