The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is a four-year program which aims to train learners to pursue graduate degree or advance degree in philosophy and in other professional fields such as law, management, finance, real estate, religious studies or public policy. It also seeks to hone learners to serve the community as ethical and responsible Augustinian by participating in humanitarian, religious, and professional organizations that work towards social transformation.

Senior High School Graduates

(General Average of at least 80%)

  1. A final grade of at least 80% in English, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences
  2. The testing result is at least average
  3. English Proficiency Test result is at least average

Transferees and Shiftees

(The applicant’s test result should at least be average level)

  1. His or her English Proficiency Test result should at least be intermediate level.
  2. He or she should have no failing grade in a previous Philosophy subject.
  3. He or she should have no rating of 75 or NC in more than two minor subjects.
  4. A transferee or shiftee with a rating of 75 or NC in one or two general education courses but good grades in Philosophy (at least 85 percent) is allowed upon enrolment on probation.
  5. Letter of Reference (From the Dean/Chairperson/Former Professor)
  6. Certificate of Transfer Credential
  7. Informative Copy of Transcript of Records 
  8. 4 pcs. of 2×2 recent ID picture (black and white or colored with white background)

Retention Policies

(A returning student who has stopped schooling for a year or more must have a valid reason for re-enrolling in the programme)

  1. He/She is enrolled on probation

b. A returning student shall adopt the existing curriculum offered

The B.A. in Philosophy Programme is designed to give students a supervised pre-professional experience applying philosophical knowledge and research methods in an industry-based organization. To that end, for the B.A. in Philosophy, students will be carrying out Applied Philosophy projects in non – government organizations and local and international industries (CMO no. 26, s. 2017, Art. 5, Section 5.2-4).  Applied philosophy can be defined as using philosophical tools to address specific philosophical problems (issues), often for a particular group of people (Steele and Price, 2008, p. 3). Specifically, it is the use/application of philosophical methods (all types) and theory (all types) to address some issue or problem.
