The University of San Agustin (USA) delegation to the Jakarta Model United Nations (JMUN) 2025 visited Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) on August 11, 2025, in a landmark event dubbed by USA International Relations Director John Paul Mondejar as “Exchange of Eagles” noting that both universities share the eagle as their emblem, symbolizing vision, strength, and leadership—values that were at the heart of the day’s celebration.
The highlight of the visit was the formal handover of the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Mr. John Paul Mondejar, Director of the USA International Relations Office, and Ms. Felica Sharon, Coordinator for Global Partnerships at UPH. Witnessing the ceremony were students from both universities, along with the Chair and faculty of UPH’s International Relations Department.
The program included a brief discussion on Philippines–Indonesia relations and a series of interactive games, fostering camaraderie, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding between Augustinian and UPH students. Symbolic golden eagle tokens were exchanged by Mr. Mondejar and Ms. Sharon to mark the enduring partnership and shared aspirations of the two institutions.
The visit took place alongside the University of San Agustin delegation’s participation in the Jakarta Model United Nations 2025, where the students represented the Philippines in high-level debates and diplomatic simulations with participants from across the globe.
“Our partnership with Universitas Pelita Harapan is a bridge for our students to engage with the world,” said Director Mondejar. “The eagle we share in our emblems is more than a symbol—it is a commitment to soar higher together in the pursuit of knowledge, service, and global understanding.”
The University of San Agustin continues to expand its international academic network, ensuring that Augustinian students gain the global exposure and intercultural experiences necessary to lead with competence, integrity and compassion.
