The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the University of San Agustin successfully conducted CS GO: The Freshman Spawn Point and Computer Science General Assembly on July 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the CPMT Building Conference Room, welcoming incoming Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSCS) freshmen while orienting all Computer Science students on academic policies, curriculum requirements, and student services.
The activity was spearheaded by Dr. Ephraim U. Basal Jr., MSCS, DIT, Academic Supervisor of the BSCS Program and ICS Adviser, in collaboration with the BSCS faculty members and organization officers. During his opening remarks, Dr. Basal acknowledged the presence of Mr. Robert A. Aguilar Jr., MIT, Academic Supervisor of the BSIT Program, and recognized the participation of the BSCS faculty members: Ms. Novelita Berganio, Ms. Trixie Anne Depra, Assistant Professor Juana Suzy Amor Lobaton, MA, and Mr. Diego Paul Lee Tian, a faculty member of the Computer Science Department and the first Organization President.
In his keynote message, Dr. Basal emphasized the importance of academic excellence, professionalism, discipline, leadership, and active participation in both academic and organizational activities. He encouraged students to maximize their learning opportunities and prepare themselves to become competent and ethical Computer Science professionals.
The program also featured a seminar by Mr. Adrian Joseph Dela Cruz, a BSCS alumnus of the University of San Agustin, who shared his career journey, discussed career opportunities in the field of Computer Science, and highlighted the knowledge and skills he acquired during his studies at the University.
Meanwhile, the newly elected ICS Organization President for Academic Year 2026–2027, Ms. Rizza Mia Abogadil, presented the organization’s plans, programs, and upcoming activities, encouraging students to actively participate in academic, leadership, and co-curricular initiatives.
The activity successfully strengthened student engagement, inspired future Computer Science professionals, and prepared students for a productive and successful academic year.
