As part of the Campus Ministry Office’s program, the Junior High School community of the University of San Agustin gathered for its annual recollection from August to September, taking a sacred pause from the noise of everyday life to reflect on faith, identity, and the person each learner is becoming.
Beginning with the Grade 7 students, the recollection centered on Unitas (Unity). Through team reflections and shared prayers, the students explored the meaning of togetherness and discovered that strength can be found in sharing their journeys with others. The experience reminded them that they are not solitary travelers, but part of a community connected by shared experiences and faith.
The journey continued with Grade 8, who reflected on Veritas (Truth). Beyond simply knowing answers from textbooks, the students were encouraged to consider truth as an honest way of living. Their reflections focused on embracing their genuine selves, recognizing God’s presence in their daily choices, and understanding that living in truth requires courage, honesty, and a willingness to listen within.
For Grade 9, the recollection brought the spiritual journey to Caritas (Love and Charity). The students reflected on love as an active choice expressed through kindness, assistance, and service to others. They were reminded that knowledge becomes more meaningful when placed at the service of others and used to make a positive difference.
As the annual recollection concluded in September, the Augustinian learners returned to their classrooms renewed. While the recollection has come to an end, its lessons on Unitas, Veritas, and Caritas continue to guide the students as they grow in faith, character, and purpose.
