Nutrition and Dietetics Program Marks 4th Pinning and White Coat Ceremony, December 12, 2025 at USA Chapel

The Nutrition and Dietetics Program of the College of Nursing and Nutrition and Dietetics (CNND) proudly celebrated its 4th Pinning and White Coat Ceremony on December 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM, marking a significant milestone for Batch Connexus as they formally stepped into the clinical phase of their academic journey.

The ceremony commenced at 1:00 PM with the solemn Processional, led by Guest Speaker Mr. Matthew Raul C. Quidato, RND, FSCO, CFPM, followed by the Academic Supervisor, the Dean, the faculty members of the program, and finally Batch Connexus together with their parents. This march symbolized the collective commitment of the institution, mentors, and families in guiding the students toward their vocation.

At the chapel, the Eucharistic Mass was presided over by the Regent of CNND, Rev. Fr. Generous P. Gonesto, OSA, with the Coro Liturgico Agustino providing hymns that elevated the spiritual atmosphere of the ceremony. The liturgy reminded the batch of the spiritual foundation of their calling and the values that will guide them throughout their professional journey.

Following the Mass, light refreshments were served at Hotel Sta. Monica from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, fostering fellowship among guests and participants before the formal program began.

At 3:00 PM, the formal program began with the Entrance of Colors by the USA-ROTC, a ceremonial display of discipline and honor. This was followed by the Welcoming Remarks of the Dean, Rev. Fr. John Louis S. Ricamora, OSA, MAT, MN, RN, who addressed the students with a message of commitment and responsibility. He reminded them to be committed to the promises they take, to uphold the values of being a good Augustinian professional, and to wear the white coat with pride and responsibility in serving others. His words underscored the values of integrity, service, and accountability, setting the tone for the rest of the program.

The highlight of the ceremony was the Inspirational Speech delivered by Guest Speaker Mr. Quidato, who shared his personal journey from being a student to becoming a professional in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. He reflected on the challenges he faced, the discipline required to persevere, and the passion that sustained him throughout his career, always driven by faith. He reminded Batch Connexus that not everything will go as planned, but prayer, resilience, and remembering their core values would sustain them. He encouraged the students to keep showing up, step out of their comfort zones, and never forget why they started, emphasizing that growth often comes with discomfort. His reflections resonated deeply, offering guidance and motivation as the batch prepares to enter clinical practice.

The program continued with the Pledge of Commitment, led by Batch President Felicity D. Sobrevega, followed by heartfelt messages. Mary Gale B. Lachica, speaking on behalf of the batch, recalled how they began as strangers but grew into a family through shared experiences, challenges, and victories. She highlighted how they faced countless deadlines, overwhelming requirements, and demanding examinations, yet found comfort in knowing they were not alone. Through celebrating each other’s victories, both big and small, they did not merely survive college but became a family.

She emphasized that the celebration was not only for the students but also for their parents, guardians, and professors who supported them every step of the way.

Representing the parents, Anamae B. Abibuag expressed her gratitude and joy, sharing how fulfilling it was to witness their children striving for their dreams. She thanked God for the blessings received and acknowledged that the sacrifices made by families had borne fruit. Her message captured the pride and fulfillment felt by families witnessing their children’s achievements.

The symbolic Receiving of Pins and White Coats marked the transition of Batch Connexus into clinical practice. Reflections were shared by Ma’am Bea Janine Ayupan, RND, emphasizing the readiness of the batch to uphold professional standards. This was followed by the awarding of distinctions, including the Leadership Award and other special awards, as well as recognitions for service through the ND Local Government, acknowledging the diverse talents and contributions of the batch.

The ceremony was further enriched by the Batch Song, “Moments to Memories,” which captured the spirit of camaraderie and gratitude. In a touching gesture, the students offered white roses to their parents, symbolizing appreciation for their sacrifices and unwavering support.

The program concluded with the Closing Remarks of Academic Supervisor Joeriza M. Tolentino, RND, DBM-HM, who reminded the students that the celebration marked not only a ceremony but a solemn commitment to service. She explained that the pin symbolizes ethical responsibility and dedication to the profession, while the white coat represents trust, faith, and the privilege of caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. She encouraged the students to remain steadfast despite challenges, remember the skills and values instilled by their mentors, and allow their white coats to shape lives with integrity, humility, and purpose.

The Exit of Colors and a joyful photo opportunity sealed the day, leaving lasting memories for Batch Connexus and the entire Nutrition and Dietetics community.
