Iloilo City – The Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) and the Iloilo City Local Government Unit (LGU) hosted a series of activities this December for the 2025 National Volunteer Month (NVM), aiming to boost volunteerism across the country.
A highlight of the celebration was the Volunteerism Focal Point System Summit, held December 4-5, 2025, at the University of San Agustin. The summit brought together volunteer representatives to exchange best practices and strategic approaches. During the event, Maria Cristy E. Daguay, Director of the Social Advocacy and Community Engagement Office, in her capacity representing the University as Chair of the Western Visayas Higher Education Institutions (HEI) Volunteerism Consortium, delivered a presentation titled “Enhancing Transparency, Accountability, Resiliency and Alignment of Volunteering Initiatives with Community Needs and Policy Processes through Strategic Collaboration with CSOs and HEIs.” Daguay was also formally inducted as a member of the as a member of the National Volunteerism Resource Pool during the summit, marking a key milestone in their commitment to advancing volunteer work in the region.
This year’s NVM carried the theme “Volunteerism for Inclusive Development: Empowering Communities Toward a Just and Resilient Future,” emphasizing the power of collaboration in building stronger, more resilient communities. DEPDev Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan had called on all government agencies, LGUs, academic institutions, GOCCs, and partner organizations to join the month-long celebration through NVM-SC Memorandum Circular No. 01-2025.
