University Community Marks Ash Wednesday at USA Gymnasium

On February 18, 2026, students, faculty, and staff from all departments gathered at the USA Gymnasium to observe Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of the Lenten season.

The Mass centered on the imposition of ashes, a symbol of repentance and humility. In his homily, the presiding priest reflected on the meaning of ashes, reminding the faithful that they signify human frailty and the call to conversion. He emphasized that Lent is a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, encouraging the community to renew their relationship with God.

As members of the university received ashes on their foreheads in the sign of the cross, the gathering became a solemn reminder of reflection, unity, and spiritual renewal as the community begins its journey toward Easter.
