MACAU – A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing formal academic cooperation between the University of San Agustin (USA) and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) was signed during a ceremony held at the USJ Senate Room on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
The agreement sets the framework for joint undertakings across four key areas: research, instruction, extension, and service-learning. Priority fields for collaboration include the Arts and Design Program—under which Architecture and Interior Design are offered—as well as Psychology and Health and Environmental Sciences.
The University of San Agustin delegation was headed by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Regina Aileen May V. Vergara, accompanied by Ms. Maria Cristy Daguay, Director of the Social Advocacy and Community Engagement Office, and Ms. Patricia Justine Vergara, Academic Supervisor for Chemistry.
Receiving the USA team were USJ Acting Rector Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences Prof. Jacky Ho, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the International Affairs Office Mrs. Paula Mota, and Ms. Teresinha of the International Affairs Office.
The program included institutional overviews and substantive discussions on prospective joint activities, covering faculty and student exchanges, collaborative research undertakings, and the co-development of service-learning initiatives. The session concluded with the formal signing of the MOU and the exchange of commemorative tokens.
