The University of San Agustin (USA) and the University of San Carlos (USC) reaffirmed their commitment to academic collaboration through the ceremonial handover of the renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 30 June 2026, held on the sidelines of the 2026 International Relations Officers (IRO) Visayas Congress at Siquijor State College in Larena, Siquijor.
Representing the University of San Agustin was IRO Director John Paul P. Mondejar, while the University of San Carlos was represented by Assistant Director Kenneth G. Opina of the Office of External Relations and Internationalization.
The ceremonial handover marked the continuation of the partnership between the two Catholic higher education institutions, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing academic excellence, strengthening internationalization efforts, and fostering collaboration in higher education.
The renewed Memorandum of Understanding provides a framework for continued cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including student and faculty exchanges, collaborative research, academic programs, knowledge sharing, and other initiatives that support institutional development and global engagement. Through the renewed agreement, both universities reaffirm their commitment to creating opportunities that enrich teaching, learning, research, and intercultural understanding.
Held alongside the 2026 IRO Visayas Congress, the ceremonial handover underscored the value of professional gatherings in strengthening institutional partnerships and expanding networks among higher education institutions. It also highlighted the important role of international relations offices in fostering strategic collaborations that enhance the quality and global competitiveness of Philippine higher education.
