The University of San Agustin (UUSA) Board of Trustees, acting upon the recommendation of its General Advisory Council, has officially approved the renaming of the PMT Building to “Pope Leo XIV Hall,” as stated in Memorandum No. 035, s. 2026, issued by the Office of the President. The historic decision honors His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the first Augustinian to ascend to the papacy.
The official naming reflects the University’s profound respect for the Holy Father and underscores its steadfast commitment to strengthening its Catholic identity and Augustinian heritage.
Effective November 3, 2026, the facility shall officially be known as Pope Leo XIV Hall.
In Memorandum No. 035, s. 2026, the Office of the President emphasized that the approved name shall be used consistently in all official University documents, correspondence, communications, publications, directories, records, signage, announcements, and other institutional references.
To ensure an orderly transition, a transition period has been established to provide offices and units concerned with sufficient time to update existing documents, templates, records, signage, directories, and other materials bearing the previous designation, “PMT Building.”
All academic and administrative units, faculty members, employees, and students are enjoined to observe and implement this official naming accordingly.
The renaming of the PMT Building to Pope Leo XIV Hall marks a significant moment in the University’s history, further solidifying its identity as a Catholic institution rooted in the teachings and traditions of Saint Augustine.
