The University of San Agustin (USA), through its College of Technology, continues to strengthen its international research engagement following the recent visit of Engr. Glenda Guanzon, faculty member of the Computer Engineering Department, to the Microwave Research Institute (MRI) of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
The visit aimed to explore potential areas of research collaboration between the two institutions, with discussions focusing on joint research initiatives, collaborative grant opportunities, and academic exchange programs through conferences, lectures, and shared scholarly activities.
Engr. Guanzon was received by Associate Professor Ir. Dr. Zuhani Ismail Khan, Director of MRI, together with Associate Professor Dr. Sukreen Hana Herman, Deputy Director. The UiTM MRI team presented the institute’s research strengths and ongoing developments in RF and microwave engineering, wireless communication systems, and applied microwave technologies.
Founded in 2003 as the Microwave Technology Centre and upgraded to institute status in 2015, MRI has established itself as a leading research hub in Malaysia for high-frequency engineering and communications technology. Under the vision of founding director Professor Dr. Zaiki Awang, the institute continues to advance its research capabilities while expanding interdisciplinary work in areas such as advanced materials, artificial intelligence, satellite engineering, antenna systems, and robotics applications.
The University of San Agustin recognizes the importance of collaborative research in advancing innovation and academic excellence, and views the visit as a meaningful step toward potential long-term cooperation with UiTM.
The engagement underscores USA’s growing internationalization efforts and its commitment to fostering impactful research partnerships that contribute to technological advancement and regional academic collaboration.
