University of San Agustin gears up for AUN-QA Associate Membership

Members of the academe and administration of the University of San Agustin (USA), led by the University President, Fr. Frederick Comendador, OSA, met today, November 3, 2022, at the Hotel Sta. Monica for an institutional development planning workshop for USA’s planned ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Associate Membership.

The three-day workshop, which ends on November 5, 2022, aims to produce the USA-AUN development priorities and themes, formulate development goals and objectives and strategies.

On the first day, deans, directors, academic supervisors, faculty, and other members of the Augustinian community came together to talk about strategic outcomes for the USA and the AUN-QA, strategic USA-AUN five-year development priorities, and strategic goals and objectives.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Mardy D. Verano. She is the Executive Director of EDUSTUDIO Learning Review & Training, a center on teacher and training development that provides learning support for pre-service and in-service teachers and administrators in public and private schools. She currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of several colleges and universities.

The ASEAN University Network was formed in 1995 to address the “need for the region to quickly develop a regional identity and solidarity while promoting the fostering of ASEAN talents by creating a platform to allow the region’s leading higher education institutions to collaborate”, according to its website. Moreover, AUN is recognized as a vital mechanism for building an active and renowned ASEAN community in higher education. The USA hopes to be an associate member and aims to start its application by 2023. (mrb)
