The University of San Agustin (USA) officially welcomed the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) team for the 480th AUN-QA Programme Assessment, running from February 3 to 5, 2026. This visit is a significant milestone for the university as it subjects four of its academic programs to international quality standards: Bachelor of Arts in Communication, Bachelor of Science in Biology, Bachelor of Elementary Education, and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
In his opening remarks, the Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, OSA, University President, emphasized that these programs reflect the university’s mission to provide transformative education guided by the Augustinian values of Unitas, Caritas, and Veritas (Unity, Charity, and Truth). He characterized the assessment as a constructive journey to reflect on institutional strengths and identify areas for growth.
We are honored to host the expert assessors: for Business Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuanthip Kamolvarin and Dr. Aidil Azli bin Alias; for Communication, Lead Assessor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Minh and Asst. Prof. Dr. Kanog-on Rungrojngarmcharoen; for Elementary Education, Lead Assessor Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil and Asst. Prof. Dr. Jiraporn Intrasai; and for Biology, Lead Assessor Dr. Tan Chin Hon and Dr. Nguyen Thi Huyen. Their guidance is invaluable in our journey toward continuous improvement and regional academic harmonization.
This assessment is a reflective process aligned with our deep commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By ensuring the highest quality in education, our programs in biology, education, communication, and business administration are designed to cultivate responsible leaders who will contribute to industry innovation, reduced inequalities, and sustainable communities. We embrace this opportunity to strengthen our academic offerings, ensuring they not only meet international benchmarks but also foster integrity, service, and lasting positive impact in line with our Augustinian legacy.
Dr. Wan Ahmad Kamil, PhD, FASc, FMIC, special advisor to the AUN executive director, congratulated the university on its first official Programme assessment. He explained that the AUN-QA framework aims to harmonize higher education degrees across the ASEAN region to facilitate the mobility of graduates. The assessment team, featuring experts from Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia, will utilize a “principal-based” approach focused on continuous improvement rather than mere compliance.
