University of San Agustin Joins National Higher Education Summit, Commits to ACHIEVE Framework

The University of San Agustin extends its congratulations to Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis on her successful first 100 days as CHED Chairperson. Demonstrating its alignment with her vision for Philippine higher education, the University of San Agustin (USA) participated in the “Converge to Achieve: The Higher Education Summit” held at The Manila Hotel on September 15, 2025. Dr. Regina Aileen May V. Vergara, Vice President for Academic Affairs, represented the university at this landmark gathering of higher education leaders from across the Philippines.

The summit, organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with Bagong Pilipinas, unveiled the comprehensive ACHIEVE framework—a strategic roadmap designed to transform Philippine higher education by 2030. The framework encompasses seven critical pillars: Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning, Centralized One-Nation Human Capital Development, Harmonized SDG-Based Research and Innovation, Integrated Real-Time Data Collection and Analytics, Expanded and Impact-Driven Internationalization Strategies, Vitalized Policies, Internal Systems, and Governance, and Effective and Efficient Public Service.

USA’s participation underscores its dedication to educational innovation and national development initiatives. The ACHIEVE framework’s emphasis on lifelong learning, research excellence, and governance reform aligns seamlessly with the university’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development for Augustinian students.

The summit’s insights are expected to significantly influence USA’s strategic planning across key areas. Academic Programs Enhancement will guide curriculum development and continuing education programs, ensuring graduates remain competitive. The harmonized SDG-based Research and Innovation agenda will strengthen USA’s research initiatives, potentially increasing collaboration opportunities and funding. Digital Transformation through integrated data collection will accelerate the university’s digital efforts, improving decision-making and student services. Expanded Internationalization strategies align with USA’s ongoing global partnership efforts.

USA’s participation demonstrates its commitment to developing job-ready graduates and contributing to the Philippines Development Plan 2023-2028 goals. The university joins other leading institutions in pledging support for the ACHIEVE framework’s implementation, recognizing that collective action is essential for creating a stronger, more innovative higher education system.

As the ACHIEVE framework moves toward implementation, USA is positioned to play a vital role in its success. This participation marks the beginning of a new chapter in Philippine higher education, characterized by enhanced collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment to national development through 2030.
