The University of San Agustin (USA) continues to fortify its global academic presence as its International Relations Office (IRO), with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, proudly announces the European Union Jean Monnet Lecture 2025. The event is set for Monday, 13 October 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the 7th Floor of the CPMT Building, University of San Agustin.
This distinguished lecture will feature Dr. Manuel R. Enverga III, the Jean Monnet Chair in European Studies and Director of the European Studies Department at the Ateneo de Manila University. Dr. Enverga is a trailblazer in his field, recognized as the first Filipino and only the fourth academic in Southeast Asia to be awarded the prestigious Jean Monnet Chair – a high honor in European Union studies.
Under the compelling theme, “Bytes and Bites: The Politics of Food in a Digital World,” Dr. Enverga will guide the audience through an insightful exploration of the intersection where technology, culture, and policy meet. The lecture promises to delve into critical contemporary issues, including:
- The dynamics of EU food law and the rising concept of gastronationalism.
- The profound influence of social media on cultural identity and consumption.
- Positioning Iloilo City’s UNESCO recognition as a Creative City of Gastronomy within broader global and digital frameworks.
This event underscores the University of San Agustin’s commitment to providing its community with access to cutting-edge international discourse and academic excellence.
The lecture is open to all members of the Augustinian community, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Due to limited seating, interested participants are required to pre-register online. Secure your slot now by registering here:
