USA Computer Engineering students win first place in the regional AI Hackathon

Five Augustinian Computer Engineering students won first place in the first-ever Western Visayas AI Hackathon last August 24, 2024. This event is part of the Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) and is organized by the Department of Science and Technology Region 6 in partnership with the Unified Movement in Western Visayas to Accelerate Startup and Spinoff Development (UMWAD).

During the three-day event, participants were asked to create and develop innovative AI-powered solutions based on their proposed problem statements. They were also guided by their mentors during the mentoring session.

This hackathon aims to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, providing students with hands-on experience in AI development.

The USA team is composed of team members Joost Besonia, Gabriel Budok, Jason D’Souza, Reginald Tatulo, and Kristina Lanza, with their coach/mentor Engr. Margarita Giner.

The Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program is PACUCOA Accredited Level I under the College of Technology.
