The San Agustin Golden Eagle (SAGE) Esports organization, a recognized student organization of the University of San Agustin (USA), bags gold and bronze medals for the Call of Duty: Mobile and Mobile Legends Bang Bang, respectively, during the Alliance Games Season 3 (ALLGS3) of AcadArena. The event was held at the SMX Convention Center and National University Mall of Asia (NU MOA) in Pasay City, Metro Manila last June 2-4, 2023.
The team flew to Manila for the CONQuest Festival 2023, a convention organized by AcadArena, to participate in the Local Area Network (LAN) event of the ALLGS3 in which they qualified in the Playoffs for League of Legends (LoL), Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB), and Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM). Thirty (30) students represented and waved the banner of the University and Iloilo during the CONQuest Festival 2023; 22 students competed for the ALLGS3, eight students are part of the SAGE Support Staff led by Mr. Jerimar Jeric Anatan, USA Esports Varsity Coach and Coordinator for Recognized Student Organizations of the Student Affairs and Welfare Office.
The LoL Playoffs was held at the Esports stage of the SMX Convention Center on Day 1 of the convention. The team was up against the University of the Philippines Diliman’s (UPD) Oblation Esports but fell short in a Best-of-3 (Bo3) series in favor of UPD with a score of 2-1. The LoL team was declared as quarterfinalists among the Top 6 teams. The MLBB team secured the bronze medal at NU MOA with a 2-0 score in a Bo3 series against the University of San Jose – Recoletos’ (USJR) Adelante Esports. They also clashed against the De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Viridis Arcus in the semifinals, but unfortunately failed to secure the finals spot with a score of 0-2. For CODM, the USA team was declared as the “New Kings of Collegiate Campus Esports for CODM” in a gruesome best-of-five series against DLSU’s Viridis Arcus with a score of 3-2 at the Esports Stage of SMX Convention Center. The team clutched their victory with a secured win for Game 2 (Search and Destroy Mode), Game 4 (Hardpoint Mode), and Game 5 (Search and Destroy Mode). They also reverse-swept the New Era University’s (NEU) Project Paradigm during their semifinals match. The CODM players are the first-ever Esports Varsity players of the University for the Academic Year 2022-2023.
The SAGE Esports team brought home seven gold medals and seven bronze medals representing San Agustin and Ilonggo game players.
SAGE is the premiere Esports organization of the University of San Agustin and provides scholarships for qualified students.
