The University of San Agustin (USA) and the Iloilo City Government solidified their commitment to disaster preparedness and community resilience through a Memorandum of Understanding signed by USA President Rev. Fr. Arnel S. Dizon, OSA and Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas, in observance of National Disaster Resilience Month.
Witnessing the signing were Dr. Sherwin Sepe, Director of the USA Sustainability and Resiliency Management Office, and Ms. Donna Magno, Head of the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO).
The accord strengthens long‑standing joint efforts including UnRisk training for USA faculty, volunteer facilitator capacity‑building for Kabalaka Camp, and the co‑development of the DRR Alphabet learning module for Day Care Centers — with plans to expand the storybook and related materials to reach more children.
Moving forward, the University aims to broaden disaster education across Western Visayas and beyond — upholding its Augustinian mission to foster safer, more resilient communities through service and shared action.
