University of San Agustin (USA) learner Meara Dormido was recognized with a Merit Award at the World Mathematics Invitational (WMI) Finals 2026, an international mathematics competition held in Tokyo and Chiba, Japan, from July 10–14, 2026.
Dormido represented the Philippines in the international competition, which brought together young mathematics enthusiasts from different parts of the world. Her participation, coordinated through AMSLI Philippines, provided her with an opportunity to demonstrate her mathematical ability, problem-solving skills, perseverance, and determination alongside some of the brightest young mathematicians internationally.
The awarding ceremony was held on July 13, 2026, at the Chiba Prefecture Cultural Hall in Chiba, Japan, where medals and certificates were formally presented to the successful participants. Dormido’s recognition as a Merit Award recipient reflects her dedication to mathematics and her commitment to academic excellence.
AMSLI Philippines congratulated Dormido and the university for her outstanding performance, noting that her achievement is a source of pride not only for the school but also for the Philippines.
