The University of San Agustin (USA) continues to uphold excellence in research as its Research Ethics Review Committee (USA-RERC) was granted a Level 1 Certificate of Accreditation by the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) under the Philippine National Health Research System.

The accreditation was formally conferred during the 44th Anniversary of the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) on March 18, 2026, at the Acacia Hotel in Muntinlupa City. The certificate carries an effectivity date of November 17, 2025, and remains valid until November 16, 2026, granting the USA-RERC the authority to operate as a Level 1 Research Ethics Committee.

This recognition affirms the University’s commitment to ensuring that all research involving human participants is conducted with integrity, responsibility, and in full adherence to national ethical standards. It also highlights the vital role of the USA-RERC in safeguarding the welfare, dignity, and rights of research participants through rigorous review processes aligned with national and international guidelines.

Chaired by Ms. May Osano and operating under the Research and Publication Services (RPS) of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, the USA-RERC plays a key role in advancing a culture of ethical scholarship within the University.

This milestone further strengthens the University of San Agustin’s position as a leading institution committed to responsible, credible, and high-quality research, marking another significant step in promoting ethical and impactful academic endeavors.
