The University of San Agustin (USA) proudly represented the Philippines at the Jakarta Model United Nations (JMUN) 2025, held from August 8 to 10, 2025, bringing diplomacy, leadership, and Augustinian excellence to the international stage.
The USA delegation, composed of student leaders from various academic disciplines, participated in high-level simulations of the United Nations, engaging in debates, drafting resolutions, and negotiating with counterparts from across Asia and beyond. This year’s participation underscored the University’s commitment to forming globally competent and socially responsible leaders who embody the Augustinian values of Virtus et Scientia.
Prior to the conference, the delegation paid a courtesy call to the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta on August 7, 2025, where they were warmly welcomed by Consul General Gonaranao B. Musor, Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy. The meeting provided the delegates with valuable insights on Philippine-Indonesian relations and the role of Filipino youth in international affairs.
John Paul P. Mondejar, Director of the International Relations Office and Adviser of the delegation, expressed that this year’s participation was not just a competitive engagement but also a meaningful platform for cultural exchange and nation-building.
“Representing the Philippines in a forum like JMUN is both an honor and a responsibility. Our delegates brought with them the voice of the Filipino youth — confident, collaborative, and committed to peace and development,” Director Mondejar said.
Andres Ceazar P. Bedonia, Head Delegate of the delegation and a senior Foreign Service student noted that their experience pushed them to think beyond borders. Bedonia adds “we learned to listen, negotiate, and advocate for global solutions. Diplomacy is not about being right but about being heard.”
Another delegate, Rylle Enzo A. Lumawag, a junior Management Accounting student, added, “Being in the same room with different peoples from across the world reminded me that diplomacy is built on relationships. Every handshake, every conversation and always practicing courtesy matters.”
