25 November 2021, Iloilo City. – The University of San Agustin welcomed Prof. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education together with the UNIFAST officials and other stakeholders of the Commission as they rode their way inside the campus in their bicycles this morning. Rev. Fr. Frederick C. Comendador, OSA along with the Augustinian community greeted the bicyclists joining the “Padyak para sa Ikaayong Lawas kag Libre nga Edukasyon: A School-based Vaccination Campaign and the Implementation of the Tertiary Education Subsidy Program in Western Visayas”.
The University is enjoined in the support of the conduct of this campaign in accordance with the provision of Republic Act (RA) 7722 otherwise known as the “Higher Education ACT of 1994” which states that,“ The State shall protect, foster and promote the right of all citizens to affordable quality education at all levels and shall take appropriate steps to ensure that education shall be accessible to all.”
Joining the cycling activities were the Augustinian Cycling Enthusiasts (ACE) and some friar-administrators who are one in promoting good health and availing of free education to students of higher education institutions in the region.
The Admissions, Scholarship, and Placement Office also invited the university’s CHED scholars to be part of this campaign and a chance to meet with Prof. De Vera.
