ABOUT

The College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Education (CLASE) is composed of what used to be the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, and the Conservatory of Music.   It is also the service college in charge of the General Education (GE) curriculum.  With the recent vertical articulation of academic programs, the College also offers graduate programs, namely, Ph.D./M.A. Education, M.A. Guidance and Counseling, and M.A. Religious Studies, that used to be under the former Graduate School. 

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

ARTS

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication is a four-year program which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of communication applicable in various professions and contexts, with focus on the media professions. 

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is a four-year program which aims to train learners to pursue graduate degree or advance education in philosophy and in other professional fields,such as medicine, law, management, finance, real estate, religious studies, or public policy. It also seeks to hone learners to serve the community as ethical and responsible Augustinian by participating in humanitarian, religious, and professional organizations that work towards social transformation.

The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science is a four-year program which deals with the study of governments, public policies and political behavior, using both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to examine all countries and regions of the world. The discipline deals with a rather broad spectrum of concerns, understanding the links between the individual(micro) and the institutional (macro), and the connections between the national and global structures of policy making and politics. 

EDUCATION

Augustinian graduates of BEED should be able to practice the teaching profession in the K-12 educational system and be the coordinators/administrators/principal/supervisors at the school, district, division and regional levels.

Augustinian graduates of BPED should be able to practice the teaching profession in the K-12 educational system and be the coordinators/administrators/principal/supervisors at the school, district, division and regional levels.

Augustinian graduates of BCAED should be able to practice the teaching profession in the K-12 educational system and be the coordinators/administrators/principal/supervisors at the school, district, division and regional levels.

SCIENCE

(Medical and Microbiology)

B.S. Biology is a 4-year undergraduate program that provides a rigorous approach to the biological sciences. The B.S. Biology program provides the most comprehensive preparation for further education in biology and related fields, including medical studies. The program produces the best researchers, practitioners, and educators in biology, biodiversity and conservation, microbiology, and molecular biology.

 

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry curriculum is a four-year degree program that offers thorough fundamental principles of chemistry, modern chemical instrumentation with a hands-on component, plus many specialized courses including natural products, organic spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, microbiology, and chemical biology. Graduates are eligible to take the Chemist Licensure Examination and can start careers in industry, government, become entrepreneurs putting up their businesses, or may opt to pursue graduate degree programs. An undergraduate student, who completes the second year level or earns 30 units of chemistry courses, is already eligible to take the Chemical Technician Licensure Examination and can start work as a laboratory technician in various industries.

The BSc Information Technology program is a study of the utilization of both hardware and software technologies involving planning, installing, customizing, operating,managing/maintaining and ICT infrastructure that provides computing solutions to meet the needs of an organization. BSc IT program is geared towards a specialization tract in Mobile/Web Development.

The Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) program prepares students to their unique role in gathering, organizing and coordinating access to the best information sources for the knowledge-based organization they belong, as well as in implementing standards for the ethical and appropriate use of information.

The BSc Computer Science program is a study of computing concepts and theories, and algorithms developments in computing. The degree program prepares students to design and create algorithmically complex software, develop an effective algorithm for solving computing problems towards a specialization of Game/Multimedia development.

The Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service is a four-year program which aims to develop high level of technical competency of students in terms of research and problem solving skills in order to generate diplomatic solutions in international politics, economics, and society.Further, this program trains students to communicate in various foreign languages, enhances the capacity of students to explain the cause and consequences of key phenomena in international relations, motivate learners to participate in the promotion of world peace and increase their understanding of matters that are current and significant to the society.

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is a four-year program designed to help students understand mental processes and observe human behavior as affected by internal,relational and social factors. This is done through the scientific method, allowing students to gain access to the human psyche and fathom its depths. Students will gain the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to assess and conduct empirical research regarding individual and group behavior through the lens of various psychological theories and concepts. It aims to promote the optimal development and functioning on the individual, family, institutional, community and national levels. The BS in Psychology degree prepares students for general careers in teaching, research, counseling and human resources. It can also provide preparation for further studies in the fields of Medicine, Guidance and Counseling, Human Resource Development, Business and Law.

 

MUSIC

The Conservatory of Music provides its students with the training needed to become professional performers and educators in their chosen fields of specialization by developing their talents, sensitivity and understanding of their craft.

It inculcates in the students the awareness of the significance of the country’s ethnic and cultural resources as material for new creative and original works, prepare its students for a career in Music Education.

The Conservatory of Music provides its students with the training needed to become professional performers and educators in their chosen fields of specialization by developing their talents, sensitivity and understanding of their craft.

It inculcates in the students the awareness of the significance of the country’s ethnic and cultural resources as material for new creative and original works, prepare its students for a career in Music Performance with concentration in Voice or Piano so that they can contribute to the development of aesthetic education and develop an appreciation for beautiful music in the consciousness of the present generation.

Dean's Message

Dear students:

Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education or CLASE. This new normal, presents challenges and concerns for the delivery of instruction in CLASE. Amidst the changing dynamics caused by COVID 19 pandemic, we are doing everything to give you quality learning experience. Our College transitions the curriculum to flexible learning, using online and modular formats. CLASE is doing its absolute best to provide you with a meaningful education from afar. Your teachers are working far beyond a typical work day to design instructional videos, modules, and other learning materials to adapt them for distance learning, and trying to do whatever else possible to make sure that you get the best access to education. We also formulated this orientation kit to help you get started this school year and to provide you with an overview of the requirements necessary to ensure your safe return to education while protecting your health and while promoting your educational and development needs.Influenced by the core values of the University which are unitas and caritas, we will continue to create ways of enriching your lives that despite of this pandemic, you may continue to grow in knowledge, love,and commitment for the creation of a sustainable world where in all creation will flourish.On behalf of the faculty and staff of CLASE, thank you for choosing our College. Whether or not we actually remain remote all the way through the next months, I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Rada Hall once it is safe again to hold classes face to face. In the meantime, stay safe and keep up with your learning.
