ABOUT

The College of Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Education (CLASE) is composed of what used to be the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, and the Conservatory of Music.   It is also the service college in charge of the General Education (GE) curriculum.  With the recent vertical articulation of academic programs, the College also offers graduate programs, namely, Ph.D./M.A. Education, M.A. Guidance and Counseling, and M.A. Religious Studies, that used to be under the former Graduate School. 

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

ARTS

The Bachelor of Arts in Communication is a four-year program which aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of communication applicable in various professions and contexts, with focus on the media professions. 

The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy is a four-year program which aims to train learners to pursue graduate degree or advance education in philosophy and in other professional fields,such as medicine, law, management, finance, real estate, religious studies, or public policy. It also seeks to hone learners to serve the community as ethical and responsible Augustinian by participating in humanitarian, religious, and professional organizations that work towards social transformation.

 

The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science is a four-year program which deals with the study of governments, public policies and political behavior, using both humanistic and scientific perspectives and skills to examine all countries and regions of the world. The discipline deals with a rather broad spectrum of concerns, understanding the links between the individual(micro) and the institutional (macro), and the connections between the national and global structures of policy making and politics. 

EDUCATION

Overview of the Program

Culture and Arts Education is a field of specialization engaged in (1) clarifying the conceptual foundations o f value-laden creative expressions such as visual arts, music, drama and dance, (2) defining its relations to other disciplines of thought and actions that address the fundamental questions of what it means to creatively express the condition and possibilities of crafting and asserting creative expressions of being human in diverse context, and (3) developing programs responsive to local and global contexts of production,
circulation, and consumption of creative expressions.

The BEEd is an undergraduate teacher education degree program designed to prepare individuals intending to teach in the elementary level.

The Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) is an undergraduate degree program which specializes in special needs education.

SCIENCE

(Medical and Microbiology)

B.S. Biology is a 4-year undergraduate program that provides a rigorous approach to the biological sciences. The B.S. Biology program provides the most comprehensive preparation for further education in biology and related fields, including medical studies. The program produces the best researchers, practitioners, and educators in biology, biodiversity and conservation, microbiology, and molecular biology.

Overview of the Program

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry curriculum is a four-year degree program that offers thorough fundamental principles of chemistry, modern chemical instrumentation with hands-on component, plus many specialized courses including natural products, organic spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, microbiology, and chemical biology. Graduates are eligible to take the Chemist Licensure Examination and can start careers in industry. government, become entrepreneurs putting up their businesses, or may opt to pursue graduate degree programs. An undergraduate student, who completes the second year level or earns 30 units of chemistry courses, is already eligible to take the Chemical Technician Licensure Examination and can start work as a laboratory technician in various industries.

 

MUSIC

The Conservatory of Music provides its students with the training needed to become professional performers and educators in their chosen fields of specialization by developing their talents, sensitivity and understanding of their craft.

It inculcates in the students the awareness of the significance of the country’s ethnic and cultural resources as material for new creative and original works, prepare its students for a career in Music Education.

The Conservatory of Music provides its students with the training needed to become professional performers and educators in their chosen fields of specialization by developing their talents, sensitivity and understanding of their craft.

It inculcates in the students the awareness of the significance of the country’s ethnic and cultural resources as material for new creative and original works, prepare its students for a career in Music Performance with concentration in Voice or Piano so that they can contribute to the development of aesthetic education and develop an appreciation for beautiful music in the consciousness of the present generation.
